Puppies need early socialisation!

It’s now widely accepted that early socialising of puppies between 8 and 16 weeks of age is important in the development of their social skills, and can help with both the confidence to meet other dogs, as well as other people. The lessons learned during this time can benefit them throughout their life, and increase the chance of a well balanced, well behaved pup for the future.

That’s why Forrestfield & High Wycombe Vet Hospitals run Puppy “Preschool“ Classes regularly throughout the year. The classes consist of a 4 week course held at our Forrestfield Vet Hospital on a weeknight from 7.30-8.30 pm.

The main focus of Puppy Classes is to let puppies socialize by playing together in a safe and non-threatening environment. However, the classes also go through basic commands like sit, stay, come and leash walking. It’s also an opportunity for puppy owners to learn about the basics of puppy health care and catch up on the latest advice and products.  It’s fun for both you and your pup.

The cost for the 4 week course is $100 per puppy.

Bookings are essential, pups MUST have had their first vaccination before they can attend, and must be on a collar and lead.

The basic course outline is:

Week 1: Puppy socialisation benefits, Vaccination and Worming, Discipline and Toilet Training Techniques, Learning to “Sit & Stay”

Week 2: Managing behaviours, Puppy Nutrition, Learning “Come”

Week 3: Sterilisation benefits & breeding, Learning Leash walking

Week 4: Grooming & nails, Course review, and Graduation!
